Community Spotlight: Toyology

Upon starting Carlyle Center, we knew a key component to the brand we set out to build would need to include resources throughout the community.

Places, people, things that further the education of children, and enhance their day-to-day learning.

Over the next several weeks (omitting next week), we’ll share some of our favorite places throughout Southeast Michigan. Places (or people or things) that are in the business for the right reasons, and are driving measurable change across our community.

First up, is a place we’ve come to love through our own experience: Toyology.

Toyology is a toy store with multiple locations across Southeast Michigan. And while at first glance, a ‘toy store,’ may seem relatively common, this one is special. Beyond carrying some great toys, the team their focuses specifically on toys that promote learning and growth, all while being fun.

And if the emphasis on the right type of toys isn’t enough, the team that makes Toyology go will surely capture your attention.

The first time we went to Toyology for Carlyle Center, we started with a phone call. As a growing business, while we like to believe we have a ton of toys, children are always looking for new things to play with. So we’ve quickly learned we need to continue replenishing the material, to keep things fun, interesting, and engaging for our clients. So we get on the phone with a team member at Toyology, and let her know what we were looking for – toys that promoted following instructions, movement, and coordination.

In a matter of a breath, the Toylogy employee had 3 - 4 recommendations for us. We said great, got in our car, and headed up to their Royal Oak location. On the way there, the team even called to let us know where the best spot to park was – simply great, caring service.

Once we got to Toyology, we continued to discuss our company, and goals. We took out several games with the staff, removed all the pieces from their respective boxes, and learned exactly how to play each game – all before purchasing anything.

Simply put, play does far more than provide entertainment. Play creates an opportunity for children to learn, and grow. Toyology understands that, and puts an extra level of care toward ensuring each of its customers get the best for what they’re looking for.

As Mr. Rogers said, “Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.”
